BJP, Cong hail Center's move to annul 9 advisers' appointment

The Opposition on Tuesday hailed the decision of the Centre to annul the appointments of nine advisers, including the one to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisoida.

leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, said the General Administration Department of GNCTD's order of cancellation of the appointments of nine advisers currently or previously attached to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and various Ministers have been issued to correct the wrongdoing in their appointments.

Gupta said Shunghlu Committee had first of all questioned their appointments. "In most of the cases, they were straight appointed without ensuring that posts exist or not. No financial concurrence was obtained. They were appointed without ensuring that they fulfil the required qualifications and experience," said the BJP leader.

Taking a jibe on the MHA order he said Sisodia failed to confront the real issues. He is sore because before joining the Government, they were office bearers and workers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and they continued to do political work even after their appointment. "They were appointed on these plump posts carrying heavy salary, offices, houses, cars, phones and a host of other facilities as a reward of their political work," he added.

Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said it is not surprising as the Shunglu Committee, in its report submitted on November 28, 2016 had pointed out grave irregularities in appointments of 71 AAP party supporters in the Government.

Maken said the AAP Government took the decision to cancel the appointment of the nine advisers acting on the advice of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs saying the creation of posts and appointments were done illegally. "The AAP Government flouted with impunity existing rules and regulations not only in the appointment of the nine AAP supporters in the Government but also in the appointment of the 21 Parliamentary Secretaries to the ministers, and various other appointments.

Maken said the Kejriwal Government squandered the tax payer's money with impunity by paying high salaries to the AAP workers as advisers and in other posts, which the Kejriwal Government was forced to rescind following the order of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

"The Kejriwal Government has not been working for the interest of the people of Delhi, who elected them to power with a massive majority, but to please the AAP workers   at heavy cost to exchequer, instead of providing efficient and meaningful administration,” he said.
