BJP national president Rajnath Singh on Sunday exuded confidence that the party would form Government in Delhi as well as at the Centre. He said the upcoming Assembly polls in the National Capital would end BJP’s 14 years of exile here and that it would dethrone the Sheila Dikshit dispensation.

Addressing a youth gathering at Talkatora Stadium on Sunday, the BJP president said the people of the city were now fed up of Congress rule. “People are reeling under price rise due to rampant corruption. We are confident to change the rule in Delhi,” Singh said.

He added that though the Congress Government had ruled over Delhi for more than 40 years, the city was still underdeveloped, with people facing a number of problems in their day-to-day life.

Hitting out at the current State Government, Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel too said his Government would develop the city within six to twelve months, if voted to power.

“The BJP will work on the overall development of youth and will establish 15 new colleges as well as one university. We will provide laptops and educational books on discounted rates to the students. Also, a Youth Commission will be set up to formulate specific policies for the youth in the Capital and to oversee their implementation. The party will ensure that the education is linked to skill development and the city provides enough employment opportunities to the youth,” said Goel.

Anurag Thakur, national president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, said, “It is heartening to see that amidst heavy downpour, thousands of youth have turned up for this convention. This shows how youth are able to connect with the BJP better. The youth in Delhi will surely uproot the Congress in the coming Assembly polls as it has completely neglected them.” Senior BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad, Shahnawaz Hussain and Dharmendra Pradhan were also present on the occasion.
