Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday alleged that officials of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led municipal corporations have been working to bring CSR funds for a smart classroom project of an NGO reportedly run by people close to the party's city unit chief, in a novel way of indulging in corruption.

Delhi has three municipal corporations and according to a new legislation, the city would soon get a new, single civic body. Sisodia alleged that BJP has put Government officials to the task of collecting funds for an NGO run by Adesh Gupta’s associates and NGO ‘Drop in Ocean’ was created by BJP leaders to pocket crores of rupees in the name of digital classrooms. “The Corporation has formed a committee of its top executives, including the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Director of Education, and has asked them to raise CSR funds for this NGO from firms,” said Sisodia. “All eight members of the NGO are from the core team of BJP Delhi state president Adesh Gupta, according to information available with the Office of Registrar,” said Sisodia.

“We obtained information on the NGO from Registrar's Office. There is no information about NGO or its previous activity accessible. Even MoU signed with company contains no information regarding this NGO's previous work, such as whether it has any expertise in digitising classrooms or any other activity,” said Sisodia.
