Holding BJP responsible for the injustice done to Purvanchalis on the conduct of Chhath Puja, Delhi Congress condemned the silence of BJP leaders in demanding restricted holiday for the puja and said BJP is an enemy of Purvanchalis
“The manner in which injustice was being done to those who keep faith in the Chhath Puja, has not happened before,” said Delhi Congresss chief Arvinder Singh lovely.
“BJP is only playing politics in the name of the festival as BJP’s silence on the matter points towards such a gameplan. Immediate steps should be taken to release water from Haryana into the Yamuna River for the Chhath Puja festival,” he added.
Congress also demanded compensation for those who could not go to the villages due to the irresponsible behaviour of the railways. Congress leaders said that the Chhath Puja is a festival of faith for the party but for BJP it is a votebank.
