BJP accuses CM of misleading traders

The Delhi BJP  has demanded that the AAP Government should notify 351 roads for commercial use and accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of “misleading” the traders over the ongoing  sealing drive.

leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said, “Firstly, the Delhi Government must immediately issue notification in respect of 351 roads, penal action 10 times annual conversion charges for mixed used along with interest should be waived off, moreover the sanction of revised construction plan standard plan for all shop-cum-Residential plots (pre and post-1962 colonies)- with development control norms of residential plots,” Gupta said.

A delegation  of BJP legislators will meet lt Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday in this regard. “We BJP MlAs will meet lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and urge him to take three decisive steps as follows to provide immediate relief to traders from sealing,” said Gupta.

“Now, Kejriwal is playing politics and misleading the traders by asking the Centre to bring an ordinance to save them from sealing,” he alleged.

Conversion charges are realised by the municipal corporations for changing category of land use from residential to commercial and mixed use. A total of 2,550 roads were notified for commercial and mixed land use in 2006 but the 351 roads in question were left out.

“The shop-cum-residential plots were allotted in 1950’s, 60’s and thereafter, earlier there was no categorisation of the Shop-cum-Residential plots in pre-1962 or post-1962, shop-cum-residential plots converted to local Shopping Centre (lSC) and the building plans were being sanctioned as per the Standard Plans available with the MCD and Delhi Development Authority (DDA),” Said Gupta.

Gupta further said that BJP MlAs will request l-G that the applicable development control norms of Residential plots should be taken for approval of the plots abutting notified commercial roads.

The development control norms while revising standard plans of shops-cum-Residence (pre and post-1962 colonies) shall be on norms of residential use only.
