With just a few days in hand, BJP’s chief ministerial nominee Kiran Bedi is neck-deep in work. On Friday, she held back-to-back meetings with leaders, party stalwarts and various cells of the party, while she even took time out to travel in a cycle rickshaw in her home constituency Krishna Nagar to connect with the residents. She also met youth from the North-East and promised to have student-exchange programs between Delhi and the North-East India.

Her day started at 9 in the morning where she interacted with residents of Krishna Nagar, especially school children. Bedi also listened to number women after which she tweeted, “Security for women emerging as a compelling priority. Women in tears expressing faith in me. Assured them I’ll be their Security Doctor...” later in the day she met senior BJP leader lK Advani and also the party’s candidate from Malviya Nagar, Dr Nandini Sharma.

In a special session, she interacted with students from the North-East as well, but refrained from discussing about the recent attacks on people from the region residing in Delhi. In her brief meeting with representatives of the party’s North-East cell she talked of increasing the number of exchange programs between the students of the two regions. “More North-Eastern festivals should be held in Delhi and educational tours should be carried out to familiarize people with the beautiful part of India,” she said to the students.

“In our quick interaction, Kiran Bedi told us that she is very familiar with the North-East and has served as an officer there,” said a spokesperson from the North-East cell. “The objective is to make sure that she becomes Chief Minister of Delhi. We are actively campaigning in the 20 Assembly segments of Delhi where there are several people from the North-East residing and who have voting rights here,” he said.
