Bageshwar DM grants IMF’s request

PNS

The Bageshwar district magistrate has granted the request made by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) to launch a ground expedition from the Pindari glacier side to locate and prepare for air evacuation (winching) of the bodies of mountaineers. The IMF had earlier sent a letter to Bagehswar district magistrate Ranjana Rajguru seeking permission to trek via Pindari glacier to Nanda Devi East accident site from June 11 to July 1. The DM has granted their request stating that district administration will be providing all possible assistance.

Rajguru said, “We have granted their request, but have asked them to give details regarding the base camp they are planning to set. The eight member team has not arrived yet, but they might start their trek on Tuesday.”

It is worth mentioning here that among the 34-personnel team that ITBP have formed, two slots are for IMF climbers.
