In view of increasing volume of vehicles on DND flyway due to the Auto Expo in Greater Noida, the DND authority has freed the toll plaza for three hours daily till February 11 from 5 pm to 8 pm. This facility is available on Noida-Delhi side only as the organiser of the Auto Expo will pay the toll charges to the operator. More than 1 lakh motorists use the DND plaza and the toll authority has expected the volume of vehicles to double during the expo.
According to DND officials, the vehicular volume has increased enormously due to the event which is causing traffic snarls on the entire carriageway. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), organiser of the motor show, has agreed to pay the entire toll amount between 5 pm and 8 pm for the six-day period.
The perk will be available for all types of road users. Earlier during the ADB summit and other occasions, the concessionaire had freed entry of vehicles on selected lanes but this is the first time toll is not being collected from all the 16 lanes in the Noida-Delhi direction during peak hours. Anwar Abbasi, spokesperson of DND flyway, said they have decided on the move after reaching an agreement with SIAM.
