Son of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Delhi Police and his cousin were arrested for allegedly raping a 26-year-old law student in North-West Delhi’s Rani Bagh area. The accused had also videographed the entire episode. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Atar Khan, son of ASI and Mohammad Anam Khan.
The incident took place on January 31 and was reported to police on February 2. The victim came in contact with Atar on a social networking site. On the pretext of a birthday party, he called the victim to a hotel in Pitampura where he had booked a room. The victim in her complaint told police that the accused offered her a drink spiked with sedative and raped her. His cousin Anam also misbehaved with her. The girl later ran out of the hotel.
After the incident, the accused started threatening her claiming he had videographed the incident. On February 2, she reached the hotel again and made a PCR call to police. Her medical examination confirmed rape. A case of rape against Atar and a case of molestation against Anam have been registered at Rani Bagh police station. Police have also seized the open Jeep in which both the accused had reached the hotel. Police officials have also pulled up the hotel for inoperational CCTV cameras which the staff claims was due to water seepage during work on a pipeline.
The two accused are students of a private university in Uttar Pradesh. Police said Atar was arrested from his Pitampura Police lines residence on Wednesday while Anam was nabbed from Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj area.
