An Army officer was on Friday arrested for shooting at his wife and two others after a tiff with her in Rajeev Nagar area of the Capital. The victim's condition is said to be critical.
The accused identified as Kuldeep Singh (43), who is a Subedar Major posted at Rohtak in Haryana, fired two gunshots at wife Rajbala alias Raj (39) at her parental house in Rajiv Nagar in Gurgaon.
“The incident took place around 6 pm when the accused asked for her signatures on some documents but she refused. He was to retire in the coming months and the papers were related to his retirement. The victim had not been living with her husband for nearly three years. The relatives of Raj said there were frequent altercations between the two,” said Alok Mittal, Commissioner of Gurgaon Police.
The accused also attacked some others people identified as Anil Kumar, a relative of Rajbala and Ritesh, a tenant in the area, who came to rescue Rajbala.
“We are investigating the case and are questioning the injured persons. We have arrested the accused persons and have registered a case of attempt to murder against him in Sector 5 Police station. We came to know that Rajbala has also filed a divorce petition in the Gurgaon local court which could be the reason behind the altercation. But, we are still waiting to record the statement of the victim,” Mittal added.
