Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Thursday visited the Delhi BJP office for the first time to take a stock of the preparations for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Political pundits are watching the political developments in the national Capital after BJP’s regaining power in Jharkhand and registering an impressive win in Jammu & Kashmir. Dates of the Delhi Assembly elections could be announced soon after the Election Commission of India held a meeting with all the stake holders for free and fair conduct of the polls. All eyes are now on Delhi as the Assembly election is being billed as an interesting one with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) making a fervent bid to win against a robust BJP riding on a high after a series of spectacular wins in States.

State BJP leaders said that Shah was himself keeping busy with Jammu & Kashmir elections. Amit Shah was presided over a formal meeting in the party office with all former party presidents, councillors, MlAs and office bearers. The meeting focused on the upcoming strategies that will be taken up by the party for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls. Under BJP’s Shramdaan programme that took place on Thursday, Amit Shah offered his service in the sanitation work at Gole Market where he called upon the BJP workers to work both for cleanliness and membership because both these works connect us directly with the people.

After Shramdaan, Amit Shah met all the workers present in the BJP office one after another in the president’s room. “It was a courtesy meeting with the workers of Delhi,” said Amit Shah, BJP national president. Shah took a stock of the situation and charted out further strategies. Sources in the party said that Shah was apparently unhappy with the poll preparations. lately, the party’s strategy to carry out public meetings in the Capital was a flop show and did not deliver the desired results.  Keeping this mind, the party will be focusing on constituencies that are considered to be BJP’s stronghold in Delhi. Special attention will be paid in areas where the chances of winning elections are a 50-50 game.
