In an attempt to increase the revenue of the organisation through advertisements, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has decided to put all its property to commercial use. It has also decided to sell the byproducts of the water treatment plants to add to its kitty.
“We will be using the DJB’s property commercially by placing advertisements on the same,” said vice chairman Kapil Mishra, adding the DJB made profit without charging a single penny from the people. Mishra further added that the DJB would also sell the byproducts of the water treatment plants — fertilisers and other waste materials — to generate revenue.
Mishra added that the advertisements would be placed on stand poles and cellular towers. “We will allow the ads on the properties of DJB for the revenue collection so that we can expand our network in providing good services to the people,” he said. Earlier, the DJB had allowed ads on the water tanks for revenue.
With this, the DJB would be able to increase its working network and could buy more water tankers, new pipes and other necessary equipment. “It will also enable us to reconstruct the damaged pipelines and solving the grievances of people,” said Mishra.
