An auto driver tried to intervene and even managed to catch an assailant by the scruff of his neck, but he was fired at. luckily the auto driver dodged a bullet. The auto driver rushed the victim to Mahavir Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Prima facie, it appears that the assailants were tracking the victim’s movement and knew his whereabouts. “The victim was not carrying any cash on him at the time of the incident but robbery has not been ruled out as a motive. Personal enmity too could be a cause,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) N Gnana Sambandan.
