AAP, V-C lock horns over faculty appointments

SR

Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government and Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh are at loggerheads over constituting governing body and appointing assistant professors in 28 colleges funded wholly or partially by the Delhi Government without the Government’s consent. Manish Sisodia, Education Minister of Delhi, said they have been planning not to release Rs 128 crore funds to the Delhi University as they did not consult the Government before forming the governing body and appointment of teaching faculties. The Minister said the University took the decision on its own despite writing a letter for consultation earlier.

This is the first time that the university had appointed teaching staff for Government-funded colleges without consultation with the Government or panels have been formed. The move of the university has also widened gap and the future of 28 colleges may put in dark as the Government provide fund for them.
