With Assembly elections knocking at the doors, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi convener Gopal Rai on Sunday announced to hold 14,000 public meeting across the national Capital between November 18 and December 24 to outline the public welfare work done by Delhi Government in the last five years.
In the mega-campaign, legislators will conduct a dialogue on four to five booths in a single day, Rai said. “The preparations for Assembly elections are in full swing. This campaign will be the fourth phase of campaigning in which legislators visit different areas will involve in dialogue with the public,” he added.
Rai said that party legislators will compare the work done by the AAP Government in Delhi with that of the work done by the earlier Governments.
“During the campaign, AAP leaders and MLAs communicate with the public about the Delhi Government work taken in all field,” he added.
Rai who also holds the Labour department portfolio, further said that all the MLAs including Ministers will start the campaign from their respective Assemblies.
The AAP had already launched three phase of its election campaigning with an aim to outline the achievements of the Delhi Government.
Earlier on September 1, the AAP had launched a 35-day-long “Jansamvd Yatra”, which aims to cover two constituencies per day to take the party’s message to the people and interact with them at various locations across the city until October 3. In public meetings, the AAP leaders also distributed pamphlets written ‘I love Kejriwal’ to people and urged them to join the movement to make Kejriwal Delhi’s chief minister again.
The yatra was part of AAP’s campaign to retain the mandate it secured in the 2015 Assembly elections, when it won 67 of the 70 seats in Delhi. Elections are slated to take place in Delhi next year.
AAP leaders received overwhelming response during the yatra as people praised various welfare initiatives introduced by the Kejriwal government including 200 units free electricity, 20,000 litre free water, education sector reforms transforming government schools, free coaching, free check up and medicines at government hospitals and Mohalla Clinics, CCTV cameras, hike in minimum wages, doorstep delivery, free bus ride for women, formation and repair of roads, sewers and pipelines, hike in pension of senior citizens and ‘Teerth Yatra Yojna’.
