Timarpur MlA Pankaj Pushkar, a dissident face of ruling AAP, was suspended from the Delhi Assembly for two days as he kept on demanding a discussion on EWS category in schools despite the Speaker’s objection.
“The Speaker’s step towards me was dictatorial. The issue was to be raised under the ‘calling attention’ provision and would not require more than two minutes. I wanted to raise the issue of EWS category admissions in schools and creches on DDA land. As per the High Court ruling in November 2014, 25 per cent reservation should be given to EWS category students in crèches and play schools. The Government is supposed to submit an annual report stating whether they are complying with the order. I wanted to ask if they were complying with the order, but anti-Dalit Government chose to not answer on it,” said Pushkar.
