Kejriwal sweeps up supporters for his Swachchh Rajneeti Abhiyan
Aping the BJP’s recent Clean India Movement, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that just like the Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan, he was starting the Swachchh Rajneeti Abhiyan with a #iFundHonestPolitics challenge on social networking site Facebook. Kejriwal officially launched the challenge by donating Rs10,000 to the party and nominating 10 other people who are his close aides to donate as well. According to him, the challenge is not about money but about building an army to clean the politics of India.
The people Kejriwal nominated includes industrialist Rajiv Bajaj, actress and party leader Gul Panag, Kejriwal’s neighbour and dentist Dr Vipin Mittal, businessman Subhash Khandelwal, his close aide Aswathi Muralidharan, NRIs Amit Agarwal from Hong Kong and Munish Raizada from USA, a law student Mohammad Kasim, Kejriwal’s IIT batchmate Subroto Saha and his brother and sister Manoj and Ranjana Kejriwal.
According to the former Delhi Chief Minister, his mother Gita Devi has also expressed her willingness to accept the challenge. These 10 people will now nominate 10 more people and urge them to donate for the party, he said. “I am kickstarting this campaign by paying up Rs10,000 and challenging 11 people to fund honest politics. Unlike others, we don’t take money from industrialists who dictate terms later on. We are taking money from the common man. So we will work in the interest of the common public,” added the party convener.
