AAP Govt intensifies 'no jail, no mooch' campaign

In an interesting turn of events in the water tanker scam, Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra launched a website called nojailnomooch.com on Monday which has a countdown to August 13, when according to Mishra, leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta will shave his moustache if Sheila Dixit is not put behind bars by then. However, a statement issued by the Government clarifies that the website and campaign is run by volunteers and not by the Delhi Government.

With the title “No Jail = No Mooch”, the website displays the message: “Vijenderji. Agar 13 August tak Sheila Dikshit jail nahi gayi to aap apni moochein katwa rahe ho naIJ (If Sheila Dikshit is not behind bars by August 13, then are you shaving your moustacheIJ)”

Mishra also alleged that Dikshit is being shielded by lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung and the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB).

“There is a mysterious reason behind both the l-G and ACB shielding Sheila Dikshit. They are compelled to do so. In two to three days, I will expose the reason why they are shielding her along with all the evidence,” he said.

While launching the website, Mishra said, “BJP MlA Vijender Gupta had tried to divert attention from the issue of Congress corruption using illogical and tragicomic performances in the Delhi legislative Assembly when he stood on top of the lOP’s table. His disgraceful move could not shroud the truth though. We have given all FIRs and evidence against Sheila Dikshit to the ACB, CBI, l-G and PM Modi ji. And yet, there has been no action. She has still not been arrested and is being written ‘request letters’ instead of being treated like a criminal.”

He added that on June 13, a promise was made in the Delhi Assembly that Vijender Gupta would shave his moustache if Dikshit is not arrested in two months.

Referring to the countdown on the newly-launched website, Mishra said, “Our countdown is a reminder to him to arrest former Dikshit, which he can’t do because of the active collusion between BJP and the Congress. In which case, he should prepare for a new facelift, and remove his moustache and confess in front of the people of Delhi that his words were lies and jumlas.”

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had made that announcement in the Delhi Assembly on Vijender Gupta’s behalf. Kejriwal had said that the leader of Opposition (lOP) can take all the credit for exposing former Dikshit if the Central Government initiates action against her. But if no action is taken, the loP will shave his moustache.

Taking a humorous tone while referring to Gupta’s table-climbing act in the Delhi Assembly last month, Kejriwal had said, “Vijender ji staked his life for this report (fact finding committee’s report on water tanker scam). Had he fallen off the table and hurt himself, where would we have got another leader of OppositionIJ I assure you that he is a man of his word and if Sheila Dikshit is not in jail within two months, not only Vijender ji will shave off his moustache, but he will also resign from his post and sit on a dharna for PM Modi’s resignation.”
