Staff Reporter

launching a tirade against Aam Aadmi Party-led Government; Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Ajay Maken on Friday alleged that the party has failed in delivering the key poll promises. Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken released a report card, titled — Two Years of Betrayal — “evaluating” the Arvind Kejriwal dispensation’s work since it stormed to power in 2015. In the 42-page document that largely focuses on education and health, Congress claims that contrary to the assertions of ruling AAP, number of students in Government schools have come down since 2014.

Explaining the increase number of dengue and Chikungunya cases, Maken said, “In this two-year rule of the AAP Government, there was an alarming rise of dengue and chikungunya cases in the city.  There were 18,000 dengue cases reported with 64 deaths in 2015-16 besides of 5357 chikungunya cases. While in the four-year regime of the Congress from 2011 to 2014, dengue cases reported were 9,793 with 21 deaths while only 132 chikungunya cases were reported.

“The AAP had promised to significantly improve the public transport but the Kejriwal dispensation could not add even a single bus to the existing fleet of the DTC. There was no progress toward fulfilling the promise of ensuring last mile connectivity. The existing strength of DTC buses has come down from 5,445 in 2012-13 to 4352 in 2015-16. The Delhi Metro project phase three delayed for the first time in this Government as only 22 km completed against target of 156 km by September 2016,” said Ajay Maken.

“There were 17.75 lakh students in Government schools in 2013-14. It came down to 17.04 lakh in 2014-15 and 16.77 lakh in 2015-16. Is this their revolution in educationIJ” Maken asked.

Maken alleged that it is for the first time that so many students have left Government schools and joined private schools, and also there is a significant drop out in the total number of students in Government schools recorded.
