An eight-year-old girl was raped by her brother-in-law in a jungle in South East Delhi's Madan Pur Khadar on Tuesday night, police said.
When the girl started bleeding, the accused took her to the hospital claiming that she met with an accident. The accused, however, was caught by the family members and handed over to police after being thrashed. The accused identified as Akhtar Hussein (22) had taken the victim to the market on pretext of buying her new clothes for EID, police said.
Hussein is married to the victim's elder sister and lives in the same locality. He works as a scrap dealer and has a one-year-old son. On Tuesday evening, Hussein asked the girl about her plans on Eid and took her to the market for buyin her new clothes.
"The girl agreed and they went to the Bhogal market for shopping," said a police officer. While returning back, Hussein took the girl to a jungle near Badarpur and raped her. He also gave her Rs 120 not to disclose the assault to anyone, police added. During the medical examination, doctors found that the girl was sexually assaulted. The family members thrashed Huassein before handing over him to police. The girl was discharged from the hospital and counseled by the Delhi Police officers.
