Two minor girls aged five and nine were allegedly raped by a 60-year-old man who offered them chocolates in Southwest Delhi’s Palam area. Police said that the incident came to light on Sunday evening when one of the victims — a five year-old girl started crying at her residence.
On being asked by her mother, she narrated her ordeal how the elderly man touched her inappropriately. The mother checked and found redness in the private parts of the child.
It was only when the five-year-old girl narrated about the assault that police got to know that the nine-year-old girl was also sexually assaulted.
Based on the medical examination and statement of the mother of the five-year-old girl, police arrested Mohammad Jainul (60). He was arrested under the POCSO Act and later, produced in court on Monday. Thereafter, he was sent to judicial custody.
Following the incident, both the victims are in a state of shock. A senior police officer said, “The incident took place on Sunday evening. The two kids were playing outside the house of the nine year old girl when the accused came, offered them chocolates and took them to his rented accommodation where he committed the barbaric act.”
While the nine year-old girl studies in a nearby school, the five year old used to live near her house.
Jainul started touching them inappropriately and later, sexually assaulted them for almost an hour. He gave them Rs 5 and later, dropped them to their houses. After reaching home, the younger girl started crying due to unbearable pain. Once her mother removed her clothes to check, she saw that the girl had got certain marks on her private part,” said the officer.
