The Special Task Force of Noida on Sunday claimed to have cracked a sensational case of uploading an obscene video clip of a girl on internet. Six people have been arrested in this case who had allegedly gangraped the victim and then made her video clip and had circulated it on internet.
In 2015, the Supreme Court had directed the CBI to investigate the cases of 12 obscene video clips that had gone viral on internet.
The CBI had declared `1 lakh reward and released a photograph of an unknown accused.
STF official said the main accused has been identified as Sumit of Muzaffarnagar. Meanwhile, other five people have been identified as Sanjay, Neeraj, Aanuj, Vinod, and Rajender who all hail from Badgaon village of Saharanpur.
An important point of this case was that neither victim nor accused, time, date, crime scene was known to anyone.
CBI had directed Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force to assist in identification and arresting of the people involved in this blind case.
A team was formed under supervision of Deputy Superintendent of police, STF Rajkumar Mishra to carry out further investigation.
“We had shared the details of this photograph with our informers in western Uttar Pradesh. The STF got a tip off from an informer about the same person identified as Sumit and then shared the details with CBI. A team was sent to Muzaffarnagar and then he was arrested from there,” said Rajkumar Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police, STF, Noida.
“We showed that video clip to the accused. The accused confessed that they had committed the crime in Badgaon village of Saharanpur district where video clip was made. The accused said that he along with five other associates had committed the crime,” Mishra said.
All the accused have been taken under CBI custody for further investigation. On 27 February, 2015, A Hyderabad based NGO namely Prajwlla had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court submitting 12 obscene video clips for investigation.
