Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal is the most preferred choice by the people for the post of CM for another term, according to a survey. The BJP is giving a competition to the ruling AAP.
While 55 per cent people said they would like to see Kejriwal being voted again as the CM, 42 per cent were in favour of Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari as the next CM in a survey conducted by "Neta App'. Congress' Delhi President Ajay Maken could bet support of a meager three per cent of the Delhi populace.
In this survey, volunteers spoke to 70 thousand people and asked them myriad of questions on the expectations and performance of the AAP dispensation.
As per the survey, BJP leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Manoj Tiwari is closing the gap as he has brought down the difference between him and Kejriwal to 13 per cent only. However the political watchers say the gap of 13 percent is a big ask as a swing of even half of it can give a big mandate to AAP in 2020.
The survey was conducted recently by an application called 'Neta App' that was launched in July by former President Pranab Mukherjee with the presence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Election Commissioners, SY Quraishi and Nasim Zaidi.
According to the survey, out of the 70 seats, there is a close fight between the AAP and BJP on 35 seats. Further, the AAP is winning 17 seats and losing 18 seats, giving an opportunity to the opposition. "In the Assembly Constituencies (ACs) where AAP is winning is the reflection of the popularity of AAP in those constituencies. Similarly, in the Constituency where AAP is stuggling, BJP is gaining," said the survey findings. Meanwhile, AAP has maintained its ascendance in the remaining 35 seats, though BJP is working hard in these seats.
The data shows that among theMLAs, Arvind Kejriwal is most popular. Among Lok Sabha MPs, Manoj Tiwari from North-East Delhi and Ramesh Bhiduri from South Delhi are popular faces on the App.
"Till now, nearly 70,000 people from Delhi voted on this platform. The data was collected through different mediums such as Neta's mobile app, website, Interactive Voice Responses (IVR), SMS's, messaging bots and Neta's physical kiosks that have been set up on various locations across the city. The app lets its users post polls and videos which help them voice their concerns. This way, app acts as a feedback mechanism for the leaders, and helps them gauge the impact of their actions and inactions," said Pratham Mittal, Founder, Neta App.
Further, Mittal added that this app is completely General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliant platform, the data is mirrored on a block-chain for the additional layer of security for the purpose of transparency. Also, the user's names and the phone number is only used to validate votes are not stored. A person can only vote for a MLA from their respective constituency. A leader's ranking on the app is the indicator of their work. No leader is allowed to vote, he added.
Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had trounced its nearest political rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after it was a given a never seen before mandate by the people of Delhi.
While AAP pocketed 67 seats, the BJP had to eat the humble pie as it could muster only three seats. Though it increased its tally to four after AAP's Rajauri Garden MLA Jarnail Singh renounced his seat to contest Punjab Assembly poll and in the subsequent re-poll BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal candidate MS Sirsa wrested the seat back.
Survey findings have given a thumbs up to Kejriwal as his popularity among the people as the most popular Chief Minister of the National Capital than his predecessors including Sheila Dikshit. According to the findings, 62 per cent voted for Kejriwal as better than former CM Sheila Dikshit. Also, the Delhi people's first choice for the post of Prime Minister is Narendra Modi as 61 per cent voted for Modi, 24 per cent voted for Arvind Kejriwal, while only 15 per cent voted for Rahul Gandhi.
