A five-year-old boy was killed in an accident in Sector-61 in Noida on Thursday. Vansh Kumar, a resident of Ghizode village, was playing near a parking lot when the accused, Vaibhav, a resident of Sector 52, hit the victim causing death on the spot. Thousands of people, living in the village, gathered at the area and started vandalising public property. Police has arrested the accused and has booked him under appropriate sections of law.

The incident took place around 10.30 am when Vaibhav (28), along with his mother, was coming out from the parking lot, situated in the vicinity of Sai Temple, and the boy was playing near the parking lot. The accused did not spot Vansh and came in contact resulting in crushing the child from his Scorpio car. The victim faced severe injuries at various parts of the body and was taken to the nearby Mother Care Hospital by the accused itself where he was declared brought dead.

Within a few hours of the incident, large numbers of local residents gathered in the area and started protesting against the local authorities. The protesters vandalised public property and thrashed Vaibhav also. Some protesters and staff of Sai Temple were also faced minor injuries during the clash. Pritam Singh, deceased’s father, blamed the accused and hospital for not taking immediate steps to save his son. He also held responsible temple authority for mismanaged parking near the temple.

“As the people of the area raised protest at several places including the hospital, we have beefed up the security of the region to avert any untoward incident. We have also arrested Vaibhav and are in constant touch with the deceased’s family,” said Vishwajeet Shrivastav, Circle Officer, Noida.
