A 32-year-old woman was gunned down in a suspected gang war by five unidentified bike-borne assailants on Friday at around 11.45 am. The woman was on the way to pick up her children from school in Naharpur Rupa Village.
The goons fired several rounds, out of which one bullet hit her chest. A passerby immediately informed the police who rushed her to hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Police suspect it to be a case of a gang war between the Kushal and Hans gangs. The deceased was the sister-in-law of gangster Amit Dagar who had killed the mother of another member of a rival gang in March 2017. Amit Dagar had killed the mother of Johnny, a gangster by mistake when he was trying to eliminate Johnny.
A murder case has been registered against unknown persons at the Sadar Police Station under Section 302 (murder) including Arms Act of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“We have registered a case and a probe is underway. The assailants will be arrested soon,” Inspector, Vijay Kumar, the Station House Officer of Sadar Police Station said.
