A 30-year-old man committed suicide in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai on Tuesday. Sources said the deceased, Mahender, was under depresssion after losing his job and his failed marriage.
According to a senior police official, the deceased has been identified as Mahender. He allegedly hanged himself at his rented house in Neb Sarai on Tuesday evening, said the official. Police said no suicide note was found at the spot.
Mahender used to stay with his grandmother in Neb Sarai and had been separated from his wife for the last couple of years, the official added.
The deceased is survived by an eight-year-old son, who stays with his paternal grandparents in Madanpur Khadar, police said.
Mahender was working as a driver but had lost his job recently and was working as a painter. He was depressed and also had to support his old grandmother who had brought him up, the officer said.
On Tuesday, Mahender returned home after dropping off his grandmother, who was going to attend a family function around 6 pm and hung himself, police said.
His body was discovered when his neighbour saw him hanging through the open door of Mahender’s room. She alerted the landlord, who made a PCR call around 6.50 pm, said the officer. Further investigations are on, he added.
