In a shocking incident three people were burnt to death inside a CNG-fitted Maruti Esteem car on Thursday night after it caught fire. The incident took place near Ullahwas Village in Sector-60 near the Golf Course extension road.
The deceased were identified as Devender (38), Gajender (38) and Narender (28). All three were married, and were close friends. They hailed from Palra Village on the outskirts of Gurugram.
Meanwhile, police and fire officials suspect that some technical fault appears to be the reason behind the incident. As the car was CNG fitted and the victims were operating the AC, it seems that the wiring in the engine got heated up and that led to sparking causing the fatal blaze.
"The police was informed about the incident by a passerby around 10.20 pm and it rushed to the spot immediately, who in turn informed the fire department. The fire tenders were rushed to the spot and doused the fire", said police officials.
According to the eyewitnesses, Narender and Gajender had lost consciousness when smoke started in the car. Devender, who was driving the car tried to exit but it did not open as central locking system was jammed.
"The incident occurred around late night. The car was badly burnt and two bodies were found on the rear seat. Another body was almost charred," a fire officer, said.
According to the sources, the trio were travelling in Devender's car from Ullahwas and it is suspected that they had drunk liquor. The villagers said the trio had left Palra around 4 pm. Devender and Gajender were financially strong while Narender worked as a daily wager.
"We are looking into the matter all different angles and another action has been initiated under Section 174 of the IPC, Rajender Kumar, SHO of Badshahpur police station, said.
