A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a self-styled godman and his disciples several times, the Delhi Police said on Monday.
The woman approached police with a complaint against Daati Maharaj, a self-styled god man at Fatehpur Beri police station in south Delhi on Sunday.
She told police that she was a disciple of the godman for a decade but after being raped by him and his two disciples, she returned to her native place in Rajasthan, they added.
She also alleged that a woman disciple would force her to the godman's room and if she refused, the woman would tell her that other disciples too slept with the godman, the police said.
The woman also said that she was sexually abused in Delhi and Rajasthan ashrams and also named two male disciples of Daati Maharaj. She fled from the ashram two eyars ago and was in depression for a long time.
After she recovered, she narrated her ordeal to her parents and they approached police who registered a case.
Delhi Commission For Women chairperson met the victim and said that she should be provided police protection.
“Met girl who alleged rape by Dati Maharaj in his ashram. The girls story is simply horrifying and it appears that she has gone through the utmost torture. She has a threat to her life. Issued notice to Delhi Police to imm provide her protection. Dati Maharaj shud b imm arrested!” she tweeted.
