In view of increasing cases of accidents due to dense fog at Noida-Greater Noida expressway, Noida Authority has decided to deploy four Innovas, two ambulances and two cranes from Friday. These vehicles will patrol 24 hours on the 25 km stretch and will help in reducing increasing accidents of vehicle pile-up. The vehicles, fitted with anti-fog light, will run ahead of vehicles and will help in crossing the stretch. The patrolling team will also help in ensuring average speed of the vehicles to avoid accidents.

According to the officials, traffic police and traffic marshals will be deployed with these vehicles. If accident occurs, the ambulances will carry victims while cranes will remove the debris. Traffic police and marshals will guide the commuters and will ensure hassle-free journey on the stretch. The patrolling team work will come under Noida Traffic Cell, which looks traffic management of the expressway.

Sandeep Chandra, in-charge on Noida Traffic Cell, said that the move was decided after increasing cases of road accidents and vehicle pile-up on the carriageway during the season. “As the road is witnessing low visibility due to dense fog, cases of road accidents are also on rise. The patrolling team along with these vehicles will guide the commuters and will check speed limits of vehicles of road users. It may be noted that the expressway, which connects Noida to Greater Noida, has witnessed accidents of late.

Four accidents occurred last week while three cases of vehicle-pile-up have taken place this week. Over six people were killed and more than 25 were injured in series of accidents on this route in last two weeks.
