Water supply would be affected in the national Capital as a result of an increase in the level of ammonia in the Yamuna and a drop in the supply of raw water from Haryana in Munak Canal.

Affected areas include the entire west, north and central Delhi, and parts of South Delhi, including Delhi Cantonment and NDMC areas Delhi Jal Board in

official statement mentioned that water treatment plants that source raw water from the Yamuna and the supply of raw water in the Munak Canal are running at 60 to 70 per cent of their capacity.

The water available

cannot be treated as the level of ammonia has risen to

2.3 parts per million against the treatable limit of 0.9 parts per million, the department said.

A senior Delhi Jal Board (DJB) official said that the department is endeavoring to rationalise the supply.
