leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Tuesday termed as “moral defeat” for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal his Government’s failure to get Presidential assent to the Office of Profit Bill and demanded his resignation.
“After the rejection of the Bill passed by the Assembly to save the MlAs appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries, the Kejriwal Government has no option but to obtain resignation from these MlAs. The Delhi Government had admitted its mistake on the day when provision was made in the Office of Profit Bill to implement with retrospective effect. It directly means that the Government had accepted that it was aware that it has taken unconstitutional decision,” said Gupta.
Delhi BJP General Secretary Ashish Sood said probably the Kejriwal Government wants to save former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit because the current Government is also benefitting from the Tanker Scam in DJB these days.
“Recently the Government while starting 429 new Water Tankers had claimed that now there will not be scarcity of water but the truth is contrary to it. Even today there is great scarcity of water in every area of Delhi like rehabilitation colonies, unauthorised colonies, un-urbanised villages in which the 50 per cent of the population live and the proof was seen through the media in Mahipalpur,” he said.
