Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG) on Thursday organised its annual symposium titled Compassion, Wisdom and Courage: Building a Global Society of Peace and Coexistence in the Capital. The speakers were former Chef de Cabinet to the Secretary General at the UN Virendra Dayal, Member of Planning Commission Dr Syeda Saiyidain Hameed and Chairperson of National Commission for Minorities Wajahat Habibullah. Speaking on the occasion, Habibullah said, “It is very important to not just defend diversity, but also celebrate it.” Speaking of this endeavour, Naveena Reddy, Director General of BSG, said, “The peace we seek cannot be brought about through a struggle for dominance in military or economic power. It can only be won through peaceful means. Peace built on the unhappiness and sacrifice of others is a meaningless sham. What’s needed is to create a world in which people of all races and nations can enjoy peace and happiness.”
