Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday inaugurated 20 health clinics at Delhi Government schools in the national Capital which will focus on the physical and mental well-being of students.

Sisodia, who also holds the portfolio of Education Minister along with Health Minister, Satyendar Jain inaugurated 20 Aam Aadmi school clinics at an event held at the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Delhi’s Moti Bagh area.

On the occasion, Sisodia highlighted the need for mental health support for students within the school premises, while Jain focused on how mental health services will impact the future of the country. Sismondi said that this initiative was one of the biggest achievements in the field of education and the health sector. “A lot of work has been done and major developments have taken place in the field of health and education.

This has been globally acknowledged. The Aim Adam school clinics consist of doctors and psychologists who listen to the problems of students. Having a psychologist is one of the biggest steps because it will be an addition to our happiness curriculum,” he added.

Jain said that the program is carefully crafted to cater to students keeping in mind their physical and mental health needs. “It aims to provide health care by providing regular full-body health checkups by trained professionals, guidance on health management by doctors, group awareness sessions on issues like stress management, and individual therapy sessions by a psychologist,” said Jain.

“It not only aims to bring about a change in the overall development but works on building a stronger future by empowering students. The initiative aims to make state of the art healthcare both accessible and accountable for the students,” Jain said. “We have initially started with this intervention for students, but we will think about extending these services for teachers as well as parents in the coming future,” Jain added.

According to an official, the Delhi Government is working continuously towards the development and well-being of each and every student from the grassroots level.

In continuation of these efforts, the Delhi Government has launched this innovative project with the CSR support of Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited.  Complimenting the efforts of the Delhi Government, a senior BSES official said that they have been playing an active role in improving the quality of life including education in Delhi under CSR initiatives ‘Sparsh’ and ‘Suraksha’.

Continuing with the close partnership with the Delhi Government in this endeavour, BSES discoms are supporting SHCs in South, West, East and Central Delhi.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative, a BSES spokesperson said, “Covid-19 has thrown-up unprecedented challenges, not just in India, but globally.

Though the Government and the authorities are doing a lot in the fight against Covid-19, these efforts have to be supplemented by the resources of the corporate sector. Being a responsible corporate citizen, BSES discoms are augmenting the efforts of the governments to improve the quality of life in the national Capital.”

“We are delighted to partner this ambitious project as it transcends education and health domains, both of which are focus areas of BSES CSR programs. Previously, BSES discom have provided 850 E-tablets for the use of Delhi Government’s school students”, added the spokesperson.
