In a bid to ease the traffic congestion in the Millennium City Gurgaon, Haryana Government on Thursday has approved the proposal of two flyovers in the city. The flyovers will be constructed within next two years by 2015 and it will be constructed from Maharana Partap Chowk and Signature Tower to Atul kataria Chowk.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda approved the construction to ease the traffic of Gurgaon after the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), has earlier six months, sent the proposal for approval to the State Secretary.

“The total fund of Rs 126.14 crore has been sanctioned by the State Government for the flyover construction. There are reportedly 30-50 thousand vehicles daily pass these junctions from IFFCO Chowk to Maharana Pratap Chowk in old part of city. The traffic of DlF, Sushant lok and busy Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) road around 50,000 can be easily diverted to Signature Tower and MDI Chowk after the construction of a flyover at MDI chowk,” said Ashok Sangwan, MCG Commissioner.

Daily around 50,000 vehicles pass through Signature Tower which leads to traffic mess at IFFCO Chowk during peak hours of morning and evening. Our surveying team will monitor the roads on June and after the submission of survey report. The work of flyover will be conducted. After the construction of flyover, the commuters will get relief from the long traffic jam. Both the flyover will be nearly two kilometres long,” Sangwan added.

According to Haryana Government official Spokesman, the Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Department will undertake the execution of this project at an estimated cost of `126.14 crore. The flyover was direly needed as the commuters have to face traffic jams on Maharana Pratap Chowk especially during peak hours. After construction of the flyovers, the traffic on MG road from local Bus Stand to right up to Iffco Chowk on NH-8 will become seamless.
