Two persons were arrested from North Delhi’s Maurice Nagar area for allegedly extorting money from several couples in Bonta Park after posing as police personnel. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused persons were extorting money from the couple for the last three months by threatening to implicate them on trumped up charges.
Police said that the accused have been identified as Shri Om Tyagi (34) and his accomplice, Rizan (24), residing in Rohini area along with their families. “The arrest was made on Saturday evening when the accused were extorting money from the couple and some passerby made a call to the police control room,” the officer added.
On Saturday, the complainant along with his friend came in Bonta Park and they were sitting inside the park when the accused approached them and yelled at them for money.
