Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is doing what other politicians have failed to do — fulfilling the promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the people. The AAP Government has fulfilled two of its core promises made to the people of Delhi, including providing free drinking water u to 20 kilolitres to each household and providing 50 per cent subsidy on power to the consumers up to 400 units. Chief Minister Kejriwal’s Government will seek the trust vote on January 2 but he still doubts the real intentions of Congress.

The Chief Minister while addressing the media on Tuesday in his Kaushambi home said that he wants to do maximum good for the people in the next 48 hours whether the Government stays or not. AAP Government is working round-the-clock to meet the expectations of the people and there will be no let up in this regard, the Chief Minister said.

“Not sure of Congress and BJP. We are not bothered whether the Government survives or not. We are running the Government assuming that we have just 48 hours with us. We want to do the maximum good to the people, if we can in this time,” he told reporters.

The Chief Minister who looked jovial despite health concerns said that he can regain his health in a couple of days but he won’t get these crucial 48 hours.

He announced that his party MlA MS Dhir from the Jangpura Assembly seat will be the will be the AAP candidate for the post of Speaker in the Delhi Assembly. When asked about Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declining the offer of Pro-tem Speaker’s post the Chief Minister said that he was not aware why the BJP has declined to accept the pro-tem Speaker’s post which generally goes to the senior most member of the house. Queried about that, he shot back, “I don’t know why the BJP declined.  I think you should ask them.”

Jagdish Mukhi, the five-term MlA of BJP from Janakpuri seat has refused to be the Pro-tem Speaker to conduct the Assembly proceedings. His refusal has led tongues wagging whether BJP was going to field him for the Speaker’s post.

The Chief Minister looked frail due to his health concerns but sounded upbeat as his Government has provided a big relief to the lakhs of households who were writhing under the agony of inflated power bills. Kejriwal did not heed to the advice of his doctors and went ahead with his hectic pace of

governance.

He presided a Cabinet meeting that lasted for two hours and then he met the media persons. If that was not enough, he went to meet the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India

SK Sharma to request him to audit the accounts of discoms that supply power

in Delhi.
