Delhi Police arrested two arms suppliers after a brief gunfight in East Delh’s Jagatpuri area on Sunday.
Omvir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (East) said, “The accused, Kadeem (32) and his associate were arrested. Kadeem is notorious for supplying arms to the Pasonda gang and Namastey gang. The team recovered ten sophisticated pistols, cartridges and a black Pulsar motorcycle.”
The accused confessed to having supplied more than 500 illegal weapons to more than 20 criminals in Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and other States. The present consignment was to be used during the festival season by criminals of Delhi-NCR.
In light of the rampant increase in the incidents of armed robberies in the city, efforts were being made by the police to nab the arms suppliers. Accordingly, a team was formed.
One of the police personnel received a tip-off about the movement of a bulk arms supplier through Nala road in Jagatpuri towards Shashtri park for a delivery.
“The team laid a trap near Sneh Public School, Nala Road, Jagatpuri. At around 11.35 pm on Sunday, two men were seen coming from the Kadkadi Mod Red light turning towards Nala Road on a black Pulsar motorcycle.
The team swung into action and tried to catch the two riders. While one of them managed to flee, the second biker fired at Sub-Inspector RN Pathak, but the officer escaped unhurt.
The other was later apprehended by police.
