A 19-year-old boy was allegedly brutally stabbed to death with an ice cutter by a group of unidentified persons near his house in South-east Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area on late Saturday night.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Feroz Malik. A relative of Feroz said, “On Saturday afternoon, at around 2:30pm, Feroz had an heated argument with a group of boys. Hours later, he got a call from one of them. They were asking him to meet them. Feroz left home in the evening. Around 12:30 at night, a few people, who were present at the site of the incident told us that the group, which included five to six boys, stabbed Feroz over 25 times with a suan (cutter used to break ice).”

“It was only on Sunday morning around 7:45am,  that we learned about Feroz’s body lying outside a Government school in the vicinity. We rushed to the spot and made a  PCR call. Police rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead,” added the relative.

Police has registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sangam Vihar Police station against unknown persons.

Police said that they are questioning close friends and family of Feroz to ascertain what led to his brutal murder. CCTV footage of the nearby area is being scanned and locals being questioned to give details about the sequence of events.

Body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem after which it was handed over to his family for last rites.

Feroz, a class 11th dropout, used to work in a bike repair shop owned by his father. He is survived by his parents and two sisters and was the youngest among the three siblings.

“So far, it appears to be a case of personal rivalry. Further probe is on,” a senior police officer of the South-East district said
