A 19-year-old girl from Gujarat, who was apparently assaulted and then dumped, was found lying in a tipsy state in South Delhi’s Munirka area. The girl was discovered by an auto driver near IIT gate with injuries on her body.
Police officials claimed that the girl had first hired an autorickshaw since she had injuries over her and was in a semi-conscious state, the rickshaw driver informed the police. The police have not been able to establish her identity as she has been giving conflicting statements to the officials. A senior police official of South district said that there are telltale signs of physical assault on her body and a case of kidnapping and causing grievous injuries has been registered at Vasant Vihar police station and investigation has been taken up.
The incident was reported around 11.30 pm on Wednesday night. The girl was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre by the police where she is undergoing treatment. Police has ruled out any sexual assault on the victim and are verifying the girl’s claim to establish her identity.
