With the Delhi BJP gearing up for Narendra Modi’s September 29 rally in the Capital, the party on Sunday formed 18 committees to oversee preparations. Former Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta has been appointed as the convenor of the event, which is to be held at Japanese Park in North West Delhi’s Rohini area.
Each committee has been assigned a specific responsibility, which includes venue management, sanitation and basic amenities, security, transportation, media management, publicity, volunteering, parking, medical facilities and coordination with local police, among others.
While an eight-member committee has been set up for overall management at the venue, another committee comprising an equal number of leaders would liaise with the media. The venue management committee, headed by local MlA Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal, also includes Delhi BJP vice-president Yogendra Chandolia, General Secretary Ramesh Bidhuri and local councillor
VP Pandey. Another party vice-president Ashish Sood will head the committee for publicity of the rally. Similarly, the three top office-bearers of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) — Mayor Azad Singh, Standing Committee Chairman Ram Kishan Singhal and leader of House Mahendra Nagpal — will inspect sanitation and basic amenities.
Besides, a seven-member committee, including Abhay Verma, Virendra Sachdeva and Anil Sharma, has also been formed for installing giant screens across the city. “We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the success of the rally,” Vijender Gupta said, adding that the various committees will ensure that those attending the rally do not face any inconvenience. “The committees have already held their meetings, responsibilities have been delegated and all the members of these committees are working overtime to make the rally a historic success,” Gupta added.
