Thirteen persons including twelve children and their female Anganwadi attendant were admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital with complaints of vomiting and fever after having their midday meal on Tuesday.
Anganwadi is situated in Dwarka's Uttam Nagar and the case is suspected to be of food poisoning. Such incidences of children falling prey to the unhygienic and poisonous food served in their mid-day meal are on rise and even after Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have taken serious note of such incidences in recent past
Out of 12 children one had fever and the rest suffered from vomiting. Their 42 years old female helper also had complaints of vomiting soon after she reached hospital, informed Dr Mehta, Medical Superintendent of DDU hospital.
“The patients had khichdi in lunch and after that were brought to the hospital. The chances of a lizard in the food are being suspected. It is not yet confirmed whether there was a lizard or not. Out of them, one child had fever. The women also came with the complaint of vomiting later on” said Dr Mehta. All of them are under medical supervision, further informed the doctor.
According to some police officials, these people were served rice and gram supplied by a group based in Uttam Nagar's Deepak Vihar. The Anganwadi centre is operated by Anita (47), a resident of Hastal Vihar in Dwarka's Uttam Nagar. She has been running it for the past 11 years.
