Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government’s target is to raise Delhi’s per capita income to Singapore’s level by 2047.

“In Delhi, the growth rate has been 11-12 per cent over the last 5-6 years. Delhi’s contribution to the country’s GDP is 4.4 per cent despite having only 1.49 per cent of the country’s population. Delhi’s per capita income is 3 lakh 54 thousand, which is three times the national per capita income standard,” Sisodia said.

“The Government intends to raise Delhi’s per capita income to that of Singapore by the 100th anniversary of the country’s independence in 2047,” he added.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Sisodia said the national capital’s growth rate has reached 11-12 per cent in the last six years and the per capita income is three times the national average.

Highlighting that Delhi is one of the fastest growing states in the country, the deputy Chief Minister said the Arvind Kejriwal government is committed to fostering a progressive business environment in the city.

According to Sisodia, who also holds the portfolio of Finance Minister in the AAP cabinet, Delhi has 29 planned industrial areas and four flatted factory complexes. There are also 25 non-conforming industrial clusters. “On paper, it is non-conforming, but all of the activities take place there. The central Government should conform these areas as soon as possible so that they can contribute to the growth of Delhi. The central and state Governments will have to collaborate,”

He  urged the central Government and the DDA to cooperate in the larger interest of the citizens.

He asserted that the Kejriwal administration intends to build a world-class multilevel manufacturing hub on 147 acres of land in Rani Khera.” On approximately 55.20 acres of land, the Delhi Government is also developing a Knowledge Based Industrial Park in Baprola. In Kanjhawala, the Delhi Government plans to build an integrated industrial township. The proposed project will be a large greenfield project spanning 920 acres,” he added.
