Dehradun police arrested a 19-year old youth on Wednesday who had allegedly eloped with a 16-year-old minor girl on February 28. The accused was identified as Dilip Kumar, a resident of Bhagwanpur, Haridwar. He was sent to Suddhowala jail after being produced in the court, said Vasant Vihar police station-in-charge Pradeep Chauhan. The girl’s parents had registered a complaint on February 28, stating that his daughter, a Class X student in a Government school, had been kidnapped by Dilip Kumar. Taking cognisance of this, a missing report was registered.
The girl had returned home in the evening the same day. A case under Section 363 and 506 of IPC was registered against Dilip Kumar in the police station. Chauhan said that teams were formed and a team was also deployed in Haridwar to nail the accused. A team finally succeeded in arresting the accused from ISBT on Wednesday.
