The meeting of the top bureaucrats of UP and Uttarakhand is the outcome of the interest shown by the chief ministers of both the state in resolving long pending issues of sharing of assets. Apart from belonging to same party, both the CMs enjoy a good personal chemistry. Handing over of Hotel Alaknanda in Haridwar district by the irrigation department of UP to Uttarakhand recently is an example of this chemistry. Issues like pension liabilities, transfer of land and assets of irrigation department, transport department, ownership of canals and pending financial liabilities are some the major issues which are pending between the two states for the past 18 years.
