On the occasion of world Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) a workshop titled “Harnessing Intellectual Property and its management for growth and prosperity” at Graphic Era University here on the occasion of World IPR Day on Saturday. The workshop was jointly organised by UCOST, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), New Delhi, Graphic Era University (GEU), Dehradun at Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun.
Experts explained about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), patents, copyrights, trademarks and design registration for the researchers and innovators during their address.In inaugural session chief guest Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Chief Managing Director NRDC, New Delhi said that if we do not protect and propagate IPR issues in contemporary world, we would remain under developed. He suggested that academicians and Scientist should work in their respective fields by keeping IPR in mind.
Vijay Kumar Dhaundiyal, Director General, UCOST and chairperson of the event said that commercialisation of the Intellectual Property has never been the part of our Indian culture however we should be more aware of it in contemporary worlds. The innovation is crucial for development and inclusive growth of contemporary Indian society.
During first technical session YD Panwar, Principal Scientist, TIFAC, New Delhi addressed the audience on “IP and innovation system in India”. Prof. SK Verma, Dean and Head, Faculty of law, Delhi University, New Delhi, addressed on the importance of Copyright and its registration method. VK Jain, Dy Manager, NRDC, New Delhi, Addressed on various aspects of Indian Patenting System and shed light on how to obtain Patent.
During Second Technical Session Ms. Suvarna Panday,, Patent Attorney, M/S S Majumdar & Co., New Delhi, addressed on “Disclosure of Innovation for Patent Protection”. Dr. Sanjeev Majumdar, NRDC New Delhi, explain the patent search and its importance. In the last lecture Shri Amitabh Mishra, NRDC, New Delhi explained technology transfer and its benefits Other dignitaries including Dr RC.Joshi, chancellor, GEU, Dr VK Tiwari, vice-chancellor, GEU, Dr Sanjay Jasola, VC, GE Hill University, A Pradhan, Chief Manager (IPR), NRDC, New Delhi, Dr BP Purohit, Joint Director, UCOST, Dr Ashutosh Mishra, Manoj Kumar Singh, Dr JS Aswal, Dr KN Bhardwaj, Pankaj Rawat, Ram Dev Ghuniyal of UCOST were present in the workshop.
