A workshop to introduce the cutting edge technology of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in the State was organised under joint aegis of Doon Neuro Club (DNC), Indian Neuro Surgical Educational Trust (INSERT) and Max Institute of Neurosciences Dehradun (MIND) here on Tuesday.
In the workshop the Professor of Neurology AIIMS, and an International expert on the use of DBS techniques in Intractable Epilepsy, Dr Vinay Goyal, spoke about the promise of DBS in helping patients suffering from many disorders. During an interaction with Neurologists and Neurosurgeons he demonstrated the usefulness of the technique and method of selection of patients.
The head of Neurosurgery in MIND, and course co-director, Dr (Brig) HC Pathak explained the technique of implanting and regulating the device. He said Max Hospital is ready to launch this technique here and patients need not go to Delhi for the same.
During the seminar, Head of Neurology in MIND, Dr Deepak Goel, Senior Consultant, Psychiatry, MIND, Dr Shobit Garg, President INSERT and Director MIND, Dr AK Singh and President DNC Dr Mahesh Kuriyal were also present.
