Irked over no action by police, a woman, who recently alleged that a senior police officer exploited her sexually, staged a demonstration outside Police Head Quarter on Monday demanding arrest of the officer in the matter.
The woman vowed to continue her protest outside PHQ unless the accused is arrested. The woman alleged that she had met the senior police officers at PHQ, but they did not respond well.
“The police have failed to arrest the accused even though I had submitted a written complaint against him to the police department a month ago. Police have not taken any step yet against accused into the matter and trying to suppress the case in the name carrying out probe,” she added. She further said that “I am being threatened by the accused through messages and phone calls. I will commit suicide at PHQ unless police arrest the accused soon,”.
She demanded that a case under appropriate sections of IPC against the senior police officer should be lodged in the police station and action should be followed accordingly.
Moreover, SP Rural Mamta Vohra said that as the complaint lodged by the woman was against the senior police officer, the police department sent it to the State Government.
