Wife of an Army jawan reportedly committed suicide by jumping into Ganga in Haridwar on Friday morning.
It is learnt that the 27-year-old Richa, resident of Peeth Bazaar in Jwalapur, had tied the nuptial knot with the jawan around four months ago. Her husband is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir. Her body was recovered by water police divers from Ganga and was sent to the district hospital for autopsy. The reason behind her reported suicide was being ascribed to a family dispute.
Police informed that she had been staying with her parents for the past few days in Jawalapur.
Station house officer, Jwalapur Amarjeet Singh said that soon after being informed, a police team rushed to the spot. “Two teams of Jal police divers were also deployed to trace the woman. Her body was recovered from Jatwara bridge. It was later sent to the district hospital for autopsy,” he added.
He further said that they had recorded the statement of her parents and investigation was on.
