A woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband and burying him in a pit dug in the bathroom of the husband’s home in Rishikesh. The police have arrested both the accused.

Dehradun rural superintendent of police, Parmendra Dobhal informed that 40-year old taxi driver Narendra Rathi had been reported missing from home.

His mother lodged a missing person’s complaint with the police on July 10, stating that he had been missing since July 2. Suspecting his wife for not approaching the police after her husband went missing, the police also questioned her. After rounds of questioning and checking her mobile phone call details, the police questioned her sternly which made her confess her crime. The accused Pooja told the police that Narendra used to drink liquor and beat her frequently. In the meantime, she had an affair with Aman Kumar who came to work as a plumber. The duo decided to eliminate Narendra. On July 1, Aman came and hid in the Rathi home before Narendra’s arrival. When Narendra came and began drinking, his wife allegedly made him more drunk and after he nodded off, he was strangled to death. Aman had reportedly dug a five feet deep pit in the bathroom where they buried Narendra’s body and on the same night, Aman filled the pit and covered it with tiles.

The police have recovered the body.According to the police, a mistake by Pooja had led them to her. On July 20, she complained of having received a phone call from her husband who had abused her and threatened to kill her and her children.

The number from which the call was made to her was of her husband. But further investigation by the police revealed that she had given her husband’s SIM card to Aman who had inserted it in his phone as traced by the police.

The call detail records also revealed that Pooja and Aman used to have multiple conversations with each other on a regular basis.
