In case of any fire incident in the Pauri district, the information will now also reach the police control room at police lines in the district headquarters. The district’s Senior Superintendent of Police Mukhtar Mohsin said that this will be possible with the wireless set of forest department having been established in the district police control room.
The SSP said that now, in case of any fire incident in the revenue area or in the forest area of Pauri district, information about it can be sent directly to police control room and the police and fire fighting team would be able to reach the site of fire.
Mohsin said that the Fire Service Week (FSW) will be organised in the district from April 14 to 20 with the police stations in charge and fire brigade officers being issued instructions to conduct the works planned for the week including the public awareness drive on fire safety.
The SSP further said that a team from the fire service department along with a team of forest department will be constituted in those areas of the district where there had been considerable loss of forest property from fire in the past years.
During the fire service week, the fire service team and forest personnel will also participate in a mock drill.
The team will give training to personnel on how to extinguish the fire. The fire service week will be celebrated on a large scale up to the block level.
A fire safety awareness drive will also launched in schools, colleges, commercial institutions and other places.
A public awareness rally will be conducted on April 20, the last day of the fire service week, added the SSP.
